The bulk of our moulded components are surface mount blocks, spacers, adapters and lenses. The material used to produce these components range from Polycarbonate, ABS to Nylon as well as specialist materials such as polybrite.

Electronic Engineering

Marl has a suite of EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools providing a complete solution to board design including:

  • Schematic capture
  • PCB design, up to 16 layers
  • Analogue and digital simulation
  • Reliability prediction software tools
  • SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software with photo- rendering, and stress analysis
  • Micro-controller firmware development tools, complete with full in-circuit high and emulation level ‘C’ compilers
  • Programmable logic design software, providing VHDL/HDL/Schematic design entry, coupled with functional simulation and timing analysis.
  • Comprehensive prototyping and pre-production facilities, with pick and place SMT, (Surface Mount Technology), equipment and PCT, (Printed Circuit Technology), manufacture.

Design expertise extends to accommodate generic requirements of market segments, for example transient and surge protection circuitry for rail applications, compatibility with technical specifications for defence applications, (including fighting vehicle, surface vessels and submarines and aircraft lighting for cockpit instrumentation and cabin lighting).

 

Opto Electronic Design

Fully equipped in-house facilities enable the design and development of high performance packaged LEDs for demanding applications. The Design team has a broad understanding of the requirements needed to provide the most effective indication which is at the heart of the man and machine interface. Techniques include enhancing optical performance with innovative materials technology, sophisticated electronic drive circuitry, and rugged, yet cost effective packaging. Product samples are always available upon request.

Ruggedisation

Many of the applications where Marl products are relied upon involve operation in demanding, harsh, or even hazardous environments. Typical features, which are inherent within the design process, are ruggedisation, providing enhanced mechanical strength to protect the light source from the point of installation and throughout its operating life. This extends to elevated resistance to vibration and shock, which can both form part of the product evaluation and testing procedure.
